Message from the President of Students’ Council

Posted by in Students

On behalf of CMCC Students’ Council, welcome back for the 2021-2022 academic year! I would especially like to extend a very warm welcome to the newest members of our CMCC family, the incoming Class of 2025.

For students, faculty, staff, and our CMCC community, the last year has required many adjustments – pardon the chiropractic pun. We have adapted to modified academic protocols and program delivery, have changed how we connect with our friends and family and respected the constant influx of changes to public protective measures. From the bottom of my heart, I hope you have all been keeping well, taking care of your physical and mental health. This new school year is full of excitement, change, and a chance for continued personal, academic, and professional growth.

As we are well aware by now, the year ahead will be different. COVID-19 is not quite yet behind us; however, we remain a resilient community that has made the most of what life has thrown our way. The CMCC student body has shown great strength working through academic, social, and personal obstacles. I am certain we will tackle the next few months we face uncertainty with patience and grace. I hope you approach these upcoming modules with determination and a continued belief in your own ability to succeed, no matter the adversity that presents itself. Our ability to adapt will continue to be tested, and if there is one thing that I am certain of, it is that CMCC students know how to do this best.

Students’ Council will also continue to modify how we operate this year. We have begun to make the transition from our “new normal”, operating predominantly through an online presence, to in-person. We are excited to collaborate in exploring safe ways to start-up social interactions for our student body and begin making memories together once again, face to face. We will help support the variety of student clubs and events safely transition from virtual to in-person, following the province and college’s policies on a safe reopening. This will be a careful transition and learning process for all of us, as the safety of our student body and CMCC community is our number one priority. We would be happy to hear your input, as we are here to represent you. Our doors (for now, e-mail inboxes) are always open to you.

Welcome back home and here’s to a successful year!

Brianna Jarvin
